“Come now, gals and don’t be slow…Grab a partner to
do-si-do!” Couples, singles and families are welcome to come to the First
Friday “Sadie Hawkins Dance” sponsored by the Office of the Arts on Friday, November
6 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Durant Arts Center, 1605 Cameron St.
A “meet and greet” begins at 6 p.m with the dance beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Light refreshments will be available complements of the Office of the
Arts. No experience is necessary and children must be accompanied by one
adult.
Peter Kasper, featured caller and The Boomerangs Square
Dance Teaching Council set the stage for this hillbilly country dance.
Dress in your down on the farm and country best. Be ready to square dance
and plan to wear denim, paisley, red handkerchiefs, straw, and close-toe
shoes.
The “Sadie Hawkins Dance” is part of the “First Fridays”
Series. The Series is a project of the Office of the Arts, a division of
the Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities.
Advance per person reservations are $5 residents and $10
nonresidents, and at the door: $10 residents and $15 nonresidents. Register
