[Archived] Alexandria Police Investigate Attempted Rape

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating an abduction and attempted rape that occurred in the Unit block of Canterbury Square on Friday, October 23, 2015.

At approximately 10:38 a.m., police were called to an apartment complex for an assault. A 28 year-old woman was walking through the underground laundry room between two buildings when an unknown man grabbed her from behind. The suspect wrestled with the victim and forcibly attempted to remove her pants. The victim fought back and hit the suspect in the face with the nozzle of an industrial vacuum, cutting his face. The suspect then brandished a small knife and ordered the victim to stay in the room as he fled.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 30’s, 5’11” to 6’, 180 to 200 lbs., with a muscular build. He had long braided hair, facial hair on his chin and tattoos on his arms. He was last seen wearing a black tank top and dark colored boxer shorts.

Anyone with information about this incident or the suspect is asked to contact Detective Brad Cecchetti with the Alexandria Police Department at 703.746.6858.
