[Archived] City Leaf Collection Program Begins October 26

City of Alexandria Leaf Collection Program Begins October 26

For Immediate Release: October 15, 2015

The City of Alexandria will provide leaf collection services from Monday, October 26, through Wednesday, December 30, depending on zone.

There are three ways to recycle leaves:

  1. Raking leaves to the curb for vacuum collection
  2. Placing leaves in paper leaf bags for collection
  3. Composting leaves and yard waste at home

The City is divided into five zones, each with a specific collection start date.  Each zone will receive three passes.  Do not mix brush or other items with leaves, as these items may injure City crews, damage equipment or private property, or cause delays.

To determine specific collection zones and dates, and for locating where complementary leaf bags may be picked up , visit alexandriava.gov/LeafCollection or call the City’s leaf collection hotline at 703.746.5323.
