The City of Alexandria recognizes National 4-H Week October
4-10, 2015 with “4-H Grows Here,” a week of 4-H themed activities celebrating
the impact of positive youth development and the work of 4-H throughout the City. Themed activities for National 4-H Week include special presentations to
youth enrolled in Power-On Out of School Time Programs, local 4-H club
meetings, 4-H National Youth Science Day: Motion Commotion and the
#IAMAlexandria4H Social Media Video Contest.
Please join Alexandria 4-H on Thursday October 8, 6 p.m. to 8
p.m. at Charles Houston Recreation Center, 901 Wythe St. for 4-H National Youth
Science Day: Motion Commotion Experiment and 4-H Week Celebration. This event

4-H
is the youth development education program of Virginia Cooperative
Extension. Virginia
Cooperative Extension, supported by Virginia Tech and Virginia State
University, is an educational outreach organization that puts university
knowledge into the hands of the people. 4-H clubs and school programs provide youth
development programs to kids ages 8-18 in the areas of science, citizenship,
healthy living, and mentoring. For over 100 years 4-H Youth Development
has been creating opportunities for youth to grow into contributing citizens
and community leaders through participation in hands-on learning through the
support of caring youth and adult volunteers. The Alexandria office of Virginia Cooperative Extension
operates with State and City funding and works in partnership with the City of
Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities.
