Alexandria Fire & Emergency Medical Services Teenage Youth Explorer Program

In a partnership with the Boy Scouts of America, the Alexandria Fire Department sponsors Explorer Post 1774 which is a coed program that allows teenagers ages 14-20 years old to learn about becoming a first responder (firefighter, paramedic, nurse, physician, police officer, or joining the military) and gain hands on experience in doing so.  The program meets three times a month and is flexible with other extracurricular activities.  After meeting certain requirements, participants in this program are eligible to ride along with Alexandria Fire Trucks/Engines and Ambulances to gain firsthand experience as a first responder.  Explorer Post 1774 will be hosting an informational session and recruiting event on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 from 7-8PM at Station 210; 5255 Eisenhower Ave.; Alexandria, VA 22304. Anyone interested in learning more about this program is invited to attend.  More information is available on the Explorer Post 1774 website: www.afdfireexplorer.com and any questions can be directed to the Explorer Post Adult Advisor: Grant Thomas who can be reached by phone at: 571-969-2214 or e-mail: AlexandriaFireExplorers@gmail.com
