For Immediate Release: June 23, 2015
Come explore “Poetic Intersections” between poetry, music
and literature with Tori Lane Kovarik, Poet Laureate, City of Alexandria, on
Friday, June 26, 7 pm at the Durant Arts Center, 1605 Cameron St.
Poetry can be found in many places – song lyrics, novels,
memoirs, traditional verse. It is in the ear and heart of the
receiver. “Poetic Intersections” is an event to celebrate the poetry
found in both the expected and unexpected places. Bring your own work or
your favorite by someone else – a poem, excerpt from a story, song lyrics,
whatever collection of words that grabs your heart and rends it the way poetry
does.
“Poetic Intersections” will be done in a casual open mic
format. Preregister to share (for 3-5 minutes) by emailing poet@alexandriava.gov by Thursday, June
25. Space will be limited by time, so preregistrations will be honored
before sign-ups at the door. Door sign-ups will read if time permits.
