[Archived] Kick-off First Fridays at the Durant Center with a Blues Night

For Immediate Release: March 23, 2015

Enjoy a "Blues Night" sponsored by the King Street Blues Restaurant and the Office of the Arts on Friday, April 3 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Durant Arts Center, 1605 Cameron St.  Appetizers, soda and water are available beginning at 6:30 p.m. complements of the King Street Blues Restaurant.  Live music begins at 7 p.m. with The Shawn Cody Band followed by Lesson Zero at 8:15 p.m. Tickets are $5 per person, or $15 per family.  Children must be accompanied by one adult.

The Shawn Cody Band features Shawn Cody on guitar, Gordon Rathbon on bass, Bill Stat on drums, with special guest Gregory James on harmonica and percussion. The Band’s unique background is in 'American Roots' music (jazz, blues, soul, funk and rock) which allows the Shawn Cody Band to maneuver very tastefully through the traditional and contemporary blues songbook.  Lesson Zero will close the evening by presenting melodic vocal harmonies and instrumental work with Kerry Miller on bass and vocals, guitar George Anspach – guitar and vocals, Brett Mandeville – drums, and Pete Cahn – keyboards, guitar and vocals.

The "Blues Night" is part of the "First Fridays" Series.   The Series is a project of the Office of the Arts, a division of the Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities.
