All City of Alexandria government offices will be closed on Wednesday, December 24; Thursday, December 25; and Friday, December 26, in observance of the Christmas holidays.
Health Facilities: The Alexandria Health Department (4480 King St.) and the Flora Krause Casey Health Center (1200 N. Howard St.) will close at noon on Wednesday, December 24, and remain closed through Friday, December 26. The Teen Wellness Center (3330 King St.) will be closed from December 24 through December 26.
Historic Alexandria: All Historic Alexandria facilities will be closed on Wednesday,
December 24, with the exception that the Alexandria Archaeology Museum will be
open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. All Historic Alexandria facilities will be closed
on Thursday, December 25. On Friday, December 26, the Alexandria Archaeology Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m; all other Historic Alexandria facilities will be closed.
Hotlines: All emergency
hotlines operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including the child
protective services hotline at 703.746.5800; the domestic
violence hotline at 703.746.4911; the emergency
services for mental health or substance abuse crisis hotline at 703.746.3401; and the sexual
assault hotline at 703.683.7273.
Libraries: All Alexandria Library branches will be closed on Wednesday,
December 24; Thursday, December 25; and Friday, December 26.
Parking: The Alexandria
Police Department will suspend enforcement of parking restrictions at metered
spaces, residential permit parking districts and other areas with signed
parking time limits, on December
24, 25 and 26. This suspension of
enforcement applies only to the restrictions at legal parking spaces, and does
not permit parking in any location normally prohibited (for example, no parking
zones, loading zones, or spaces for persons with disabilities).
Recreation
Centers: All
City of Alexandria recreation centers, including the Chinquapin Recreation
Center, will be closed December 24 and December 25. On December 26, William
Ramsay will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for a Power-Full Fun Day to youth
enrolled in the Power-On Out of School Time program only; and the Durant Center
will be open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. All other recreation centers, including the
Chinquapin Recreation Center, will be closed on December 26.
Resource Recovery: Residential refuse and recycling will be
collected on Wednesday, December 24. There is no collection scheduled on
Thursday, December 25; Thursday’s collection will take place on Friday,
December 26. The Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Recycling
Collection site will be closed on December 24 and 25.
Schools: All Alexandria City
Public Schools will be closed from Monday, December 22, through Friday, January 2.
State Offices: The General District Court and the Juvenile Court
and Domestic Relations District Court will be closed December 24, 25, and 26. The
Circuit Court will be closed on December 24 and December 25; and the DMV Office,
at 2681 Mill Road, will close at noon on Wednesday, December 24 and reopen on Monday, December 29.
Transit: On Wednesday, December 24, Alexandria Transit Company's
DASH bus service will operate on a weekday schedule until 7 p.m. DASH bus
service will not operate on Thursday, December 25. On Friday, December 26, DASH
will operate on a Saturday schedule. The
free King Street Trolley will run during its regular operating hours on
December 24, 25 and 26.
