The City of Alexandria’s Ad Hoc Underground Transmission Line and Substation Working Group will meet this Thursday, September 25, 2014, from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., in City Hall Sister Cities Conference Room 1101, 301 King Street. PJM Interconnection, a regional transmission organization that coordinates the movement of wholesale electricity will present information about the project need. Additionally, Dominion Virginia Power will present information about the proposed alignment options, and the Working Group will review major concerns and routing alignments. The meeting is open to the public.
Dominion Virginia Power has approached the City of Alexandria regarding Dominion’s proposal to construct a new 230-kilovolt underground transmission line between Alexandria and Arlington in the vicinity of Jefferson Davis Highway and Potomac Yard. The project would add and upgrade equipment at the existing switching station on E. Abingdon Drive in Alexandria, and connect it to the Glebe Substation on S. Glebe Road in Arlington.
Dominion Virginia Power will hold an open house on Wednesday, October 1, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Mount Vernon Community School located at 2601 Commonwealth Avenue to discuss the project. For more information visit Dominion’s project website.
