Gadsby’s Tavern Museum Offers Free Tours in Honor of Veterans

Provided by Museum’s Junior Docents, November 9

Gadsby's Family DayOn Sunday, November 9 all are invited to tour the historic tavern as Junior Docents, volunteers from grades 4 through 7, share their enthusiasm for history. Be inspired by the next generation of historians while touring the tavern where George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and other made history. To honor Veteran’s Day and American Legion Post #24, who helped save these buildings, all veterans, active duty personnel, and their immediate families will receive FREE admission. For all others, admission is $5 per adult and $3 per child (ages 5 through 12).

In the late 18th and early 19th centuries, Gadsby’s Tavern was the center of social and political life in Alexandria and the new Federal City of Washington.  The tavern served as the premier gathering place for residents – including George Washington – and visitors to eat, drink, learn, and influence history. Gadsby’s Tavern Museum is located at 134 North Royal Street in the heart of Old Town Alexandria.
