[Archived] Costume Symposium at Gadsby's Tavern Museum

Capital Fashion of 1814:  London to the City of Washington, September 27

As the region concludes the Bicentennial Commemoration of the War of 1812, join us on Saturday, September 27 for an immersive day in the fashions of the Federal City of Washington.    Speaker’s will explore the influences on fashion in 1814, the cut and construction of 1812 military uniforms, the creation of race-based fashions in the new nation, and a detailed look at one fashionable wardrobe.  Sessions are offered a-la-carte and a special 1814 inspired menu will be offered by Gadsby’s Tavern Restaurant.  Cost is $50 for the morning lectures, $25 for lunch, and $50 for the afternoon workshop.  The special afternoon workshop featuring costumes from the collections of Mary Doering & James Kochan has limited seating available, so early registration is important.
