[Archived] Gear Up for After School Fun: Register Now for School Year Power-On and Power-Up Programs

For Immediate Release: August 18, 2014 

The Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities is currently accepting registrations for the 2014-2015 School Year Power-On and Power-Up after school recreation programs. Organized by age groups, youth will maintain a full schedule of age-appropriate activities incorporating play, learning, cultural enrichment and positive social interaction. Activities include creative and performing arts, homework time, sports, fitness, holiday and family events and much more.

Power-On for grades K-6 is offered weekdays from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the following locations:

Power-Up for grades 6-8 is offered at Francis C. Hammond Middle School, 4646 Seminary Rd., weekdays from 3:15 p.m. to 6 p.m. A transportation option is available for students attending George Washington Middle School.

Register online at alexandriava.gov/Recreation or by visiting the Registration & Reservation Office at the Lee Center, 1108 Jefferson St., Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.  Applications for payment plans or financial assistance must be made in person and parent information packets are required to complete registration.
