[Archived] City Academy Now Accepting Applications

For Immediate Release: July 28, 2014

Want to learn more about your City government? The Alexandria City Academy is accepting applications for its fall season. The nine-week program begins Thursday, September 11.

The City offers the program to provide a unique opportunity for residents to learn about and gain exposure to a wide range of City government functions, services, activities and issues. Classes will take place on Thursdays, from 7 to 9 p.m., at locations throughout the City.  The Academy is designed to develop civic leadership, building a stronger city through well informed, engaged residents and business owners.  The program also prepares individuals for public service on a board, commission, task force or other involvement in the City’s governance.

The program is open to City residents ages 18 and over, and owners of businesses located within the City.  Class size is limited to 20 students. The application form may be downloaded, submitted online, or picked up at City Hall, 301 King St., Room 1900, Alexandria VA 22314. The completed printed applications may be submitted in one of four ways: by return email, regular mail, by fax to 703.838.6426, or in person to the above address. The registration deadline is Thursday, August 14, at 5 p.m.
