[Archived] City of Alexandria Expands Availability of In-Person Credit and Debit Card Payments

The City of Alexandria has made paying tax bills, citations, and parking permits more convenient by expanding the types of credit and debit cards accepted at City Hall. Residents may now use Visa, MasterCard or Discover credit and debit cards to make in-person payments.

This expanded service is one of six easy ways to pay offered by the City. Customers can pay online, at a cash payment center, with the Automated Bank Debit Program, by phone, by mail, or in person at City Hall.

Tellers are available in City Hall, Room 1510 during normal business hours to accept payment by Visa, MasterCard or Discover credit and debit cards, cash, check, or money orders. A service fee of 2.5 percent on the transaction amount is charged for in-person credit and debit card payments. The fee is paid directly to the City’s credit card processor. Payments are accepted in person Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., except City holidays.
