[Archived] Dance Classes for Jane Austen Ball-July 24, July 31, August 7

Learn to dance like Mr. Darcy & Elizabeth Bennet

Jane Austen BallIn preparation for the Jane Austen Ball on August 9, come to Gadsby’s Tavern Museum to learn 18th – Century English country dancing from highly skilled dance instructors. Whether you are an experienced dancer or are dancing for the first time, all are welcome and encouraged to take these educational, beginner-level classes. The classes will be taught in the Tavern’s historic ballroom, where you can not only learn to dance, but also surround yourself in rich history as well.
Classes are taught from 7:30-9:30 pm, and are $12 per class or $30 for the series of three. Reservations are requested and can be made my calling 703.746.4242 or by visiting the online shop.
In the late 18th and early 19th centuries, Gadsby’s Tavern was the center of social and political life in Alexandria and the new Federal City of Washington.  The tavern served as the premier gathering place for residents – including George Washington – and visitors to eat, drink, learn, and influence history.
