Police Warn of Thefts of Property

The Alexandria Police Department has recently seen an increase in reports of items stolen from shopping carts while victims were shopping at stores in Potomac Yard Center, including Target, Shoppers, and T.J. Maxx. There have been at least six incidents in the past two weeks.

These and all personal theft cases may be prevented by utilizing simple tips regarding your personal belongs:

• Do not leave your purse or wallet unattended in your shopping cart while browsing.
• Keep your purse closed.
• Carry only items that are needed.
• Take only the credit cards or cash you plan to use.
