 City Employees “Plant Seeds to Grow Futures” on Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day

The City of Alexandria Commission for Women sponsored the 21st Annual Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day on April 24.  Forty-one students from T.C. Williams High School and the Minnie Howard Campus were introduced to various career fields.  Among the 30 City mentors were Judge Becky Moore, Deputy Police Chief Eddie Reyes and Councilmembers John Chapman and Del Pepper.  

This year’s event theme was “Plant a Seed, Grow a Future.”  In addition to workplace experiences, the mentees enjoyed a kick-off reception and luncheon featuring guest speakers Mayor William D. Euille, Deputy City Manager Debra Collins, and Alexandria School Board Member Chris Lewis.   

The mentors have volunteered their time to share with you, listen to you and guide you,” said Mayor Euille. “Take advantage of their knowledge by sharing your goals and discussing the possibilities you have.  Listen to the mentors’ experiences; they can empower you to find your journey.”  

Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day is nationally sponsored by the Ms. Foundation.
