On Wednesday, February 27, Officer Frank Powers responded to a call for a report of a disorderly subject at a local business. He arrived at the scene and spoke with the caller who told Officer Powers that a male subject had been in her store two times the day before without making a purchase. She said the subject made her uncomfortable and stood so close to her that she could feel his breath on her neck. The caller described the subject as a Middle Eastern man in his late 20s, approximately 5'6" with short black hair. She added that she had seen the same subject driving a yellow cab #168 earlier that day. On December 28, around 1:30 a.m., Officer Trevor Griffin and Officer Hayden Johnson were stopped at a red light at the intersection of North Van Dorn Street and Sanger Avenue, each in their own cruiser. They observed a car run through the red light and into the intersection. Vehicles coming from the opposite direction had to slam on their brakes to avoid hitting the car. Read More...
On December 28, Engine 208 and Medic 208, along with an EMS supervisor and battalion chief, were dispatched to the 5300 block of Duke Street for a report of a pedestrian struck by a car. This location is right across the street from Fire Station 208 and, although the crew of Truck 208 was not initially dispatched to the incident, they recognized the potential severity of the call and quickly went across the street to help. On August 23, around 2:15 a.m., officers responded to the 500 block of North Imboden Street for reports of a domestic incident. The victim stated her ex-boyfriend was knocking at her window. On November 3, Deputy Sheriff Charles Poarch was working a shift at the Booking post. During his shift, an Alexandria police officer brought in an arrestee who had been charged with Domestic Assault and battery and Drunk in Public. The subject was very intoxicated and was placed in a cell until he could sober up. Once he was sober, he could complete the booking process. Read More...
In the early morning hours of October 26, Medic and Engine 205 were dispatched for a report of a brick wall collapse that had trapped a 21 year-old victim. When they arrived on scene, Medic and Engine 205 discovered an intoxicated man lying on the ground a few feet away from a pile of debris and bricks. He said that he had been chasing a cat when he tried to climb the wall and it had collapsed. The victim was alert and oriented with abrasions to his arms, knees and chest. On March 16, at 3:04 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 4300 block of King Street for reports of a disorderly subject. Callers were reporting that a man was yelling and jumping on the roof of a car. One caller stated the disorderly man had grabbed a female's arm in front of her children and told her that she was a slut. The female was able to break free and run for safety. Another caller reported that the subject was the driver of a car that had suddenly stopped in traffic. He had exited his car, charged at another car and done a belly flop onto the car's hood. On August 11, at approximately 4:45 p.m., officers were called to the 3900 block of Vermont Avenue for reports of a suicidal subject armed with a knife. Officer Jordan Young was the first to arrive at the scene. He met with the subject's niece who stated her uncle was suicidal and had left on foot in an unknown direction armed with a knife and a bag full of medication. Read More...
