[Archived] Art Submissions Sought for “Art Uniting People” Exhibit

 


Artists whose lives have been affected by mental illness, addiction, developmental and intellectual disorders are invited to participate in the fourth annual “Art Uniting People,” a Celebration of Recovery, Creativity and Mental Health.

Artists may enter two, 2-dimensional works of art (for example, oil, chalk, acrylic, watercolors, photography, collages, mixed media and digital photography.) Artists are also invited to share the inspiration behind their art pieces and some of their personal story to create a powerful and unique viewing experience for visitors to the exhibition.

All art pieces must be suitably finished and ready to hang with screw eyes and wires firmly attached. A limited number of frames are available but if you wish the art framed it must be 9 inches by 11 inches.  Art pieces, the entry form and the loan form must be delivered to the Department of Community and Human Services, 2525 Mount Vernon Avenue (Mt. Ida entrance) on Friday, April 25 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The exhibition will be on display at The Gallery@Convergence, 1801 N. Quaker Lane from May 3 until June 13. The opening reception is Wednesday, May 7 from 5 to 8 p.m. at The Gallery@Convergence. All artists, their family and friends are invited to attend.
