[Archived] UPDATE: Police Arrest Suspect for Credit Card Theft

The Alexandria Police Department has arrested a man in connection to a January 2, 2014, theft of a wallet from a grocery store in the 1700 block of Duke Street. Khalid Bennajma, 49, of Arlington, was charged with seven counts of felony Credit Card Theft, one count of Grand Larceny, and one count of Credit Card Fraud. The investigation is ongoing.

Police Warn of Thefts of Property

The Alexandria Police Department has recently seen an increase in reports of items stolen from purses while victims were shopping at grocery stores. There have been at least five incidents since December.

These and all personal theft cases may be prevented by utilizing simple tips regarding your personal belongs:

• Do not leave your purse or wallet unattended in your grocery cart while shopping.
• Keep your purse closed.
• Carry only items that are needed.
• Take only the credit cards or cash you plan to use.
