[Archived] Alexandria Black History Museum hosts the Virginia Black Storytelling Association

“A Name Without a Story is Just a Name”  Saturday, February 22, 2014, 2 – 3 PM 

On Saturday, February 22, 2014, from 2 – 3 p.m., in observance of Black History Month the Alexandria Black History Museum hosts master storytellers Dylan Pritchett, Page Hill, Arthuretta Martin, and Baba Jamal Koram for a program of civil rights stories.  Admission is $3.00 per person and appropriate for all ages.

Pritchett, Hill, Martin and Koram are members of the Virginia Black Storytelling Association and bring a wealth of talent to the art of storytelling. Patrons will enjoy hearing stories of the civil rights struggle of the African-American community in Virginia. From the colonial period to the trailblazing 1939 Sit-In to the present, listeners will be inspired by true tales of endurance and justice.

The storytelling event will be held at the Alexandria Black History Museum, located at 902 Wythe Street, Alexandria, Virginia  22314. The Museum is located five blocks from the Braddock Road Metro Station on the Yellow and Blue Lines. Street parking is available. For more information, please call 703.746.4356.
