[Archived] City of Alexandria Office of the Arts Accepting Arts Program Grant Applications

The City of Alexandria’s Office of the Arts is currently accepting applications for Arts Program Grants. Grant funds are available to eligible arts organizations and individual artists for general operations and projects that occur in the City of Alexandria between July 1, 2014 and June 30, 2015. Online application forms, instructions, and frequently asked questions for all grant programs are available online at www.alexandriava.gov/Arts. The deadline to submit a grant application is Friday, February 28, 2014.

The Office of the Arts will conduct a series of grant workshops and webinars to assist interested applicants in preparing their grant applications. The Office of the Arts requires artists and nonprofit organizations applying to a grant category for the first time to attend one of the grant workshops or webinars. Other applicants are strongly encouraged to attend the grant workshops or webinars but it is not required.

The goals of the grant program are designed to encourage artistic excellence; improve individual artists and arts organizations financial, administrative, and management capabilities; and to assist individual artists and arts organizations in providing opportunities to create, perform and present their works. Each year, approximately $175,000 in City funds is awarded on the basis of competitive grant evaluation process. All grants require a 1:1 cash match.

Completed online grant applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2014. In addition, one hard copy of the application must be delivered by 5 p.m. Monday, March 3 at the Durant Arts Center, 1605 Cameron St., Alexandria, VA 22314.
