[Archived] Sexual Assault Center Seeks Volunteer Advocates

The City of Alexandria’s Sexual Assault Center is recruiting volunteer advocates for the February 2014 training. Volunteers are an integral part of the Sexual Assault Center. They respond to the 24-hour hotline on evenings and weekends. They provide emotional support and information to assist victims in regaining control of their lives. They also accompany victims of sexual assault to the police department and/or hospital.

The next volunteer training will start February 8. The training involves 40 hours of classroom instruction on weekends and evenings during the month of February. All sessions must be attended to receive certification. After completing the course, volunteers may become client advocates.

If you would like more information or would like a volunteer application, please call the volunteer coordinator at 703.746.3127 or email Neeley.hughey@alexandriava.gov. The deadline to apply is January 24, 2014.
