[Archived] Alexandria Warns of Police Impersonators

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating two instances of robberies committed by suspects impersonating police officers. On December 2 and December 22, 2013, several masked men identified themselves as Alexandria police officers to gain entry to hotel rooms. Once inside, they robbed the occupants of money. None of the victims were injured. In both cases, victims advertised various services online and the police believe that is how they were targeted.

Legitimate police officers will not be masked unless working in an undercover capacity while other officers are present. If you are stopped by a police officer who is not in uniform and are apprehensive, ask to see their ID or call 911 immediately.

If you feel that you have been a victim of these suspects please contact the Criminal Investigations Section of the Alexandria Police Department at 703.746.6711.
