Two Alarm Fire Forces Evacuation of Residents.  

For immediate release: August 27, 2013  

WHEN:           August 27, 2013  

WHERE:         300 block of South Van Dorn Street  

WHO:             Alexandria Fire Department  

WHAT:           On August 27 at 3:38 pm the Alexandria Fire Department, assisted by Arlington and Fairfax County Fire Departments responded to a garden apartment building in the 300 block of South Van Dorn Street for a two alarm apartment fire.   First arriving firefighters found fire coming from a fourth floor apartment at the front of the building.  A second alarm was requested to assist in fighting the fire.  Firefighters brought the fire under control shortly after 4pm..    

All residents of the apartment building successfully evacuated the building.  There were no reported injuries.  

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.  Damage estimates were not made available at this time.  The occupants of at least one apartment were displaced by the fire.
