[Archived] Alexandria Police Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Stevenson Avenue

Alexandria Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that resulted in the death of a 4 year-old boy. The incident occurred at approximately 11:05 a.m. on Saturday, May 4 in the 6300 block of Stevenson Avenue.

Preliminary investigation reveals that an 84 year-old man was driving a 2010 Jeep Commander eastbound in the 6300 block of Stevenson Avenue when the 4 year-old boy ran into the street. The boy’s mother ran after him and both of them were struck by the Jeep. Both were transported to INOVA Fairfax Hospital. The 4 year-old was pronounced at the hospital. The mother sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.  The driver remained on the scene.

Members of the Crash Reconstruction Team are investigating the incident.
