WHAT: The City of Alexandria Fire Department will hold a Remembrance Ceremony honoring Paramedic Joshua A. Weissman on Friday, February 8, 2013 at 10:00am at the Alexandria Fire Department Professional Development Center, 1108 Jefferson Street, Alexandria Virginia. The ceremony will honor the memory of Paramedic Joshua Weissman who died in the line of duty on February 9, 2012.
While responding to a car fire on Interstate 395 near Glebe Road on the evening of February 8, 2012, Paramedic Weissman fell from the roadway, where he suffered a severe head injury. He was rescued by City of Alexandria and Arlington County Firefighters and Paramedics, with assistance from the City of Alexandria and Arlington County Police Departments and the Virginia State Police. Despite valiant efforts by the medical team at the Washington Hospital Center, Paramedic Joshua Weissman succumbed to his injuries at 4:25pm on Thursday, February 9, 2012.
Joshua Weissman, 33, of Bristow, VA. was a seven-year veteran of the Alexandria Fire Department, and was hired in April 2006.
