Around 5:00 p.m. this evening, Prince Georges County Police notified Alexandria Detectives that the stolen police cruiser was found in their jurisdiction. The vehicle is being towed back to Alexandria Police Headquarters for further processing. The investigation continues. An inventory of police property has not been completed at this time.
Alexandria Police are investigating the theft of a marked Alexandria Police Cruiser, #2168. The cruiser, a 2006 Ford Crown Victoria, was taken from 2727 Duke Street overnight. The vehicle was parked and locked.
The cruiser did have police property inside, including a Remington 870 shotgun and a Panasonic Toughbook Mobile Computer.
Attached is a picture of a cruiser similar to the stolen cruiser with the same make, model and year.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the police cruiser or with information about the suspects involved is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Section of the Alexandria Police Department at 703.746.6711.
Detectives would like to remind witnesses that they can remain anonymous.
