[Archived] Alexandria Police Investigate Attempted Sexual Assault

Alexandria Police are investigating an attempted sexual assault that occurred on Tuesday, October 2, at approximately 9:45 P.M. in the wooded area just south of the creek in the 5300 block of Holmes Run Parkway. A 23 year-old female City resident was walking in the park near the community garden area, when she was approached by a man. The man began to talk to the woman and then grabbed her and pulled her into a secluded area where he attempted to sexually assault her. The victim broke free from the suspect and ran away from him. The suspect is described as a black male in his twenties, approximately 5’7” to 5’9”, weighing 200 to 220 pounds. He was wearing all black clothing. The victim was not seriously injured.

Detectives do not believe that this incident is related to a prior assault that occurred in the same area on September 12, 2012.
