[Archived] Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities to Host Community Meeting on Aquatics

For Immediate Release: September 10, 2012

The Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities will host a public meeting on Wednesday, September 19, 7 p.m. at the Lee Center, 1108 Jefferson St., to discuss the City of Alexandria’s Aquatics Facilities. The public is encouraged to attend.

In April 2012, in conclusion of a yearlong effort to study and understand the existing conditions and future needs for aquatics facilities in the City, the consultant team of Kimley Horn and Counsilman Hunsaker presented their findings to the public. Staff has reviewed community comments received after that meeting and is hosting a second meeting to discuss and get feedback on alternatives for addressing future aquatics planning. The consultant’s report is available at https://www.alexandriava.gov/uploadedFiles/recreation/parks/AquaticsStudyFullReportMay2012.pdf.
