[Archived] Construction and Renovation Work Scheduled at Fort Ward Park & Eugene Simpson Stadium Park Tennis Courts

As part of the FY 2012 Capital Improvement Program, the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities will resurface and color coat the tennis courts at Fort Ward Park, 4301 West Braddock Rd. and Eugene Simpson Stadium Park, 426 E. Monroe Ave.

The work at Fort Ward Park is scheduled for June 25-July 27. The courts will receive new fencing during the first week. Following the fence installation, the court surface will repaved and new posts and nets will be installed. During the third and fourth weeks, the new asphalt surface will be allowed to cure. The courts will be colored and lined during the fifth week. Court materials are weather sensitive and the construction schedule may be impacted by weather delays.

The work at Eugene Simpson Stadium Park is scheduled for June 25-July 13. The courts will receive new fencing during the first week. Following the fence installation, the court surface will repaired and new posts and nets will be installed. During the third, the courts will be colored and lined.

Court materials are weather sensitive and the construction schedule may be impacted by weather delays. The courts will be closed to the public during the construction project for safety reasons. Residents will see equipment in use and crews at work during the daytime.
