[Archived] Alexandria Fire Department Responds to Possible Suicide Attempt

At 12:45 p.m., the Alexandria Fire Department, along with EMS personnel from the Arlington County Fire Department, responded to a request to check on an individual's well being.  Fire and EMS personnel arrived at 1300 Martha Custis Dr. to find a note on the door of the residence warning of a possible suicide attempt.  Personnel from the Alexandria Police Department were able to gain entry and found a 30 year old man inside the residence with an unknown substance.

The man was removed from the home, decontaminated and transported to an area hospital for further evaluation. Hazardous Materials Team members from the Alexandria and Arlington Fire Departments made entry to the residence and were able to confirm there was no hazardous substance found and no other occupants. As a precaution, fire and police personnel were also decontaminated.
