Web-based Survey Simpler to Complete, Easier to Use

Every year, the City of Alexandria’s collects Income and Expense information from commercial property owners to assist in making annual fair market value assessments. In the past, the City mailed out paper forms, which were cumbersome to complete, and required owners to return them by mail.
This year, the City has created a web-based online filing system that makes it easier for property owners to file their information. This system will also make it even easier for property owners to file in future years. Next year the City will provide owners with the information that they filed the previous year, so it will only be necessary for commercial property owners to update information that has changed in the past year - rather than filing an entire new submission.
Instructions for completing the online Income and Expense Survey were mailed on March 21. The survey must be completed by May 1. Paper forms will not be included in the mailing, but they may be downloaded from the survey forms webpage or obtained by contacting the Department of Real Estate Assessments at realestate@alexandriava.gov or 703.746.4180.
