[Archived] Alexandria Police Investigate Bank Robbery at United Bank

Alexandria Police are investigating a bank robbery that occurred at the United Bank, located at 301 S. Washington Street.  Around 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 17, a man entered the bank, displayed a handgun and demanded money.  The teller relinquished an undisclosed amount of cash and the suspect fled towards S. Washington Street on foot.  No one was injured.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned black male, 25-30 years-old, approximately 5’9” tall.  The suspect was wearing blue jeans, black scarf around his face, black coat and a camouflaged floppy hat.

Anyone recognizing the suspect from the surveillance photos or with additional information about the robbery is asked to call Detective Chris Whelan at 703.746.6884 or the Criminal Investigations Section of the Alexandria Police Department at 703.746.6711.

Detectives would like to remind witnesses that they can remain anonymous.
