[Archived] Person Struck by Metro Train at Van Dorn Street Station

WHEN:           January 6, 2012

WHERE:         Van Dorn Street Metro Station, 5690 Eisenhower Avenue

WHO:             Washington Metropolitan Transit Authority

WHAT:           At 7:14am the Alexandria Fire Department, assisted by units from the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department responded to the Van Dorn Street Metro Station for a report of a person struck by a train.  Arriving units located a person who had been struck by an inbound Blue Line train at the station.  The victim was deceased at the scene.  Firefighters and medics remained on the scene for over an hour assisting Metro Transit Police with recovery efforts.

Details concerning the cause, victim and circumstances of the incident are being handled by the Washington Metropolitan Transit Authority who can be reached at 202.962.1051.  Metro Transit Police are investigating the incident.
