Gadsby’s Tavern Museum Serving History-Inspired Beers and Cuisine January 20

Ales of the RevolutionSavor the flavors of American history at the Historic Beer Dinner at Gadsby’s Tavern Museum, 134 North Royal Street, at 7 p.m. on Friday, January 20, 2012. This culinary adventure pairs history-inspired beers from Yards Brewery of Philadelphia with a four-course meal fit for George Washington.

This delectable dinner features beers from Yards’ Ales of the Revolution, authentically crafted brews inspired by the 18th century recipes of founding fathers Washington, Jefferson and Franklin. Guests will begin the evening in the museum as they enjoy appetizers of ale-braised duck sausage and chestnut fritters with Jefferson’s Tavern Ale, while a Yards representative discusses historic brewing. Then guests will be seated at Gadsby’s Tavern Restaurant for French onion soup paired with Yard’s Extra Special Ale and followed by spruce marinated lamb loin, French beans wrapped in bacon, and crushed red potatoes served with Richard’s Tavern Spruce Ale. After dinner, delight in a dessert of apple crumble with porter-toffee sauce paired with Washington’s Tavern Porter.

Tickets are $85 inclusive per person and reservations are required. A vegetarian entrée option is available with advance notice. For additional details or to make reservations, please call 703.746.4242 or visit www.gadsbystavern.org.

In the late 18th and early 19th centuries, Gadsby’s Tavern was the center of social and political life in Alexandria and the new Federal City of Washington.  The tavern served as the premier gathering place for residents – including George Washington – and visitors to eat, drink, learn, and influence history.
