[Archived] Alexandria Police Investigate Bank Robbery at Virginia Commerce Bank


Alexandria Police are investigating a bank robbery that occurred at the Virginia Commerce Bank, located at 5140 Duke Street.  Around 2:27 P.M. on Wednesday December 28, a man entered the bank, implied he had a weapon and demanded money.  The teller relinquished an undisclosed amount of cash and the suspect fled the area.  No one was injured.


The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’7” with a medium build.  The suspect was wearing a red stocking cap with black trim, a black hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and dark boots.


Anyone recognizing the suspect from the surveillance photos or with additional information about this robbery is asked to call Detective Chris Whelan at 703.746.6884 or the Criminal Investigations Section of the Alexandria Police Department at 703.746.6711.

Detectives would like to remind witnesses that they can remain anonymous.
