[Archived] Update: Victim Identified in City’s First Homicide


Alexandria Police have identified the victim of the suspicious death in the 1200 block of Wythe Street as Bob Cory McNeely, 40, of Alexandria City.  An autopsy determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound.  This is the first homicide for Alexandria in 2011.  There were two homicides in 2010.  The investigation continues.


Alexandria Police Investigate Suspicious Death on Wythe Street


Alexandria Police are investigating a suspicious death in the 1200 block of Wythe Street.  Around 10:10 P.M., officers responded for a report of shots fired.  Upon arrival, they found one male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.  The victim, a 40 year old black male, was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.  The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. 


Detectives are on the scene and the investigation is ongoing. 

An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death.
