[Archived] Vehicle Drives Into Building Injuring Two.

At 2:12 pm units from the Alexandria Fire Department responded to a reported vehicle into a building in the 3200 block of Duke Street with one person trapped.  Firefighters arriving on the scene within 5 minutes of the dispatch discovered a passenger minivan had driven into the Baja Fresh Restaurant located at 3231 Duke Street.  One patron of the restaurant was trapped under the front of the vehicle.  A second patron was found injured inside the restaurant.  Firefighters extricated the patron under the car with the assistance of the Department's heavy rescue squad.  Both patrons were treated on the scene by paramedics and transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

Damage estimates to the structure were being evaluated by City inspectors.  The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Alexandria Police Department.
