Info Session and “Cry Off” Moved from Gadsby’s Tavern Museum to Lloyd House
Organizers of Alexandria’s town crier search have decided to move the location of two upcoming events. The location of the information meeting and tryouts is being changed to Lloyd House at 220 North Washington Street in Old Town. These events were originally scheduled for Gadsby’s Tavern Museum but Gadsby’s remains closed as work continues to repair chimneys damaged in last week’s earthquake.
The information session will be held on Thursday, September 1, at 7 p.m., at Lloyd House and then then tryouts, including a “cry off,” will be held at the same location on Wednesday, September 7, at 7 p.m. The new town crier will make his or her first public appearance at the first Legislative Meeting of the Alexandria City Council on Tuesday, September 13. Town crier applicants should call Historic Alexandria at 703.746.4554 to RSVP for the September 1 information session.
