[Archived] City Hosts 9-11 Remembrance Ceremony on September 9

Location Changed Due to Weather

Due to the inclement weather, the City of Alexandria's 9-11 Remembrance Ceremony, scheduled for noon today, will be held at City Hall, 301 King Street, in the second-floor Council Chambers.

The purpose of the hour-long event is to give thanks and pay tribute to those in the community and in uniform who responded on 9-11 without fear, acted without hesitation, and gave their lives to save others. The ceremony, will feature remarks from Alexandria Mayor William D. Euille, Alexandria Sheriff Dana Lawhorne, Police Chief Earl L. Cook, and Fire Chief Adam K. Thiel. The event includes the “Return to Quarters” bell-ringing ceremony and a Community Tribute featuring youth from T.C. Williams High School.
