[Archived] Forest Park Pedestrian Bridge Replacement Scheduled to Begin in August

For Immediate Release: July 27, 2011

The Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities will begin work in August to replace the existing pedestrian bridge located in Forest Park between Kingston Ave.  and Francis Hammond Pkwy.  Pedestrians should expect limited trail access and bridge closures throughout the month.  For their safety, pedestrians should follow construction signs.  Work is anticipated to be completed no later than September 2.

Work includes removal of the existing structure, its foundations, and installation of a new prefabricated steel bridge.  The bridge is located on a trail route that links MacArthur Elementary School, TC Williams High School, and Chinquapin Park.
