[Archived] City Hosts Annual Hershey Track & Field Meet Saturday, May 21

Join City of  Alexandria Mayor William D. Euille for the opening of the Annual Hershey Track & Field Meet on Saturday, May 21 at T.C. Williams High School, 3330 King St., at 9:30 a.m. Youth will compete in the 50, 100, 200, 400 meter dash; 800 and 1600 meter run;  4 x 100 relay; Softball Throw; and Standing Long Jump. First and second place winners in certain age groups advance to the District Track Meet scheduled for Saturday June 4 in Fauquier County.

The mission of the Hershey Track and Field Games is to provide a quality recreation and school program where children have fun and are introduced to physical fitness through basic track and field events such as running, jumping and throwing.

In addition to opening the track meet, the Mayor will proclaim May 21, 2011 as the first National Kids to Parks Day organized and launched by the National Park Trust. National Kids to Parks Day empowers kids and encourages families to get outdoors and visit America’s parks.
