[Archived] 2011 Applications Now Available for Disabled Veterans Tax Relief

The Virginia General Assembly has passed legislation amending the Code of Virginia to exempt certain disabled veterans and their surviving spouses from the real estate tax.  Disabled veterans and their surviving spouses will be exempt from real estate tax for tax year 2011 and subsequent years only under the following conditions:

Applications are now available for the City’s Real Property Tax Relief for Veterans with 100 Percent Service-Connected Disability. To obtain an application or to receive further information, please visit alexandriava.gov/taxrelief or contact Tax Services at taxrelief@alexandriava.gov or 703.746.3901, Option 6.  Applications are due June 1, 2011, and must be accompanied by certification of the veteran’s disability and, in the case of a surviving spouse, the veteran’s death certificate.
