[Archived] Alexandria Police Sobriety Checkpoint Results

Alexandria police conducted a sobriety checkpoint in the 600 block of South Patrick Street to deter and apprehend intoxicated drivers from 10:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 26, to 6:00 A.M. on Sunday, March 27.  Vehicles were stopped and drivers were checked to assure that their abilities to drive had not been impaired by alcohol or drugs.

During the checkpoint, nine arrests were made for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI).  Fifteen summonses were issued for miscellaneous traffic offenses and one criminal arrest was made for carrying a concealed weapon.

Eleven Alexandria police officers, two parking enforcement officers, one emergency communications technician and two Alexandria Sheriff’s deputies participated in the checkpoint.
