The Alexandria Police Department reports that total Part 1 crime decreased by 0.9% or 33 offenses, in calendar year 2010. This is the lowest annual total in Alexandria since 1966. Homicide, robbery, burglary and auto theft declined in 2010; while rapes increased by five offenses, aggravated assaults increased by ten offenses and larceny increased by fifty offenses.
