[Archived] Alexandria Police Make Arrest in Credit Card Fraud Case

Alexandria Detectives have charged a woman responsible for credit card fraud following an investigation into a wallet being taken from a restaurant in November 2010.  Terri Bellamy, 41, of Prince Georges County, Maryland has been charged with two counts of Credit Card Fraud and was arrested on Tuesday March 8th in Maryland and extradited to Alexandria.

The charges stem from a larceny of a wallet that occurred on Sunday, November 14, 2010.  The victim was at the La Madeleine Bakery located at 500 King Street between 11:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. and noticed her wallet missing from her purse as she was leaving the restaurant.  The victim’s credit card that was in her wallet was used the same day. 

Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Section worked in cooperation with the United States Secret Service, Office of Inspector General Offices of both the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Department of Homeland Security and the Prince Georges County Police Department.  Investigators and Detectives worked extremely hard to develop a suspect in this case which ultimately led to the charges against Bellamy.  Bellamy is a federal government employee. 

This is an ongoing investigation and additional charges may be pending.
