Alexandria Detectives have charged one man responsible for a larceny that occurred in February.  Barry E. Kaplan, Jr., 38, of Arlington has been charged with two counts of grand larceny and one count of petit larceny.  He is currently being held at the Alexandria Adult Detention Center.

The charges stem from a larceny that occurred on February 5th around 11:30 p.m. at Murphy’s Restaurant and Pub, located at 713 King Street.  In that case, two coats were taken from a chair while the victims were inside the restaurant.   The victims noticed their coats missing when they went to leave and reported the theft to police.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Section worked extremely hard to develop a suspect in this case which ultimately led to the charges against Kaplan.

This is an ongoing investigation and additional charges may be pending.

If anyone has additional information about this case or the suspect involved please call or email Detective Julie Goble of the Criminal Investigations Section at 703.838.4082 and Julie.goble@alexandriava.gov.

Detectives would like to remind witnesses that they can remain anonymous by calling the Crime Solvers tip line at 703.838.4858.
