[Archived] Alexandria Art Organizations Are Invited To Participate in a Local, Regional and National Arts Study

For Immediate Release: March 7, 2011

STAND-UP AND BE COUNTED!

The City of Alexandria is involved in two national studies—The Local Arts Index and the Arts and Economic Prosperity IV.  The Office of the Arts and the Alexandria Commission for the Arts invite citizens and art organizations to stand up and be counted.

Citizens can be counted by completing an audience survey at one of the upcoming arts and cultural events.  Your insights are valuable, so please take the time to complete the survey.  Art organizations can be counted by surveying their audiences over the next nine months.  And to ensure your art organization receives an electronic organization survey, please call the Office of the Arts and provide them with your specific knowledge about your arts and cultural organization.

Both studies are sponsored by the Americans for the Arts, a national arts organization based in Washington, DC.  Results from the studies will provide the citizens, businesses, community organizations, art groups and policy-makers with a valuable analysis of arts participation, a census of arts and cultural organizations, and a comprehensive understanding of the economic impact of the nonprofit arts and cultural industry in Alexandria.

To become involved by gathering data for these studies or surveying audiences, or to learn more about arts activities in Alexandria, visit AlexandriaCommissionForTheArts.org or email aca@alexandriava.gov.
