[Archived] Update: Alexandria Police Investigate Discovery of Skeletal Remains

Alexandria Detectives have determined through their investigation that the skeletal remains were found on federal property.  The investigation has been transferred to the United States Park Police.

Alexandria Police Investigate Discovery of Skeletal Remains

Alexandria Police are investigating a suspicious event which occurred in the wooded area around Franklin Street and Union Street on Sunday, February 13.  At approximately 8:00 a.m., a City resident was walking his dog in the wooded area around Ford’s Landing.  During the walk his dog discovered what appeared to be human skeletal remains.  Crime Scene Investigators and Detectives responded to investigate further with the assistance of a Fairfax County Police Department’s cadaver dog.  The remains were collected and sent to the medical examiner’s office for further examination.
